Why Xiaomi needs extra steps
Xiaomi's MIUI is the most aggressive battery saver in the Android ecosystem. By default, every app's background services are killed and not allowed to restart automatically. Without these two settings, Kidlyoo's Watchdog will be terminated within minutes of you closing the app.
Step 1: Battery saver - No restrictions
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps, then Manage apps.
- Find and tap Kidlyoo.
- Tap Battery saver.
- Choose No restrictions.
Step 2: Enable Autostart
- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps, then Permissions, then Autostart.
- Find Kidlyoo and toggle it on.
On some MIUI versions Autostart is found under Settings - Battery and performance - App battery saver. If you can't find it, search Settings for "autostart".
If Kidlyoo still gets killed
Some MIUI versions also benefit from locking Kidlyoo in Recents:
- Open Recents.
- Long-press the Kidlyoo card.
- Tap the lock icon.
